Even More Mermaids
A Bondi Beach lifesurfer has saved a struggling swimmer, He walks out of the surf with his catch, but he finds it is actually a Merman that has been waving for his attention. A little cheeky! Drawn in 2002 and coloured in Photoshop during 2004, I plan to do a series of these. I also have a more adult version of this work.
I did this as a gift for my father's 70th birthday. He was happy. It embodies what is important to me creatively. This art will be published for the first time in FDQ (Fashion Doll Quarterly).
Originally published as the cover of Mickey Moose presents Underwater Love in April 2003. This book features three mermaid tales (tails). Original sequential art by Alex Major and Adam Gunn with the back cover by Andrew Burchett. I chose to fill my space with a reprint of Unknown Seas, the very first sequential art that I self-published in comics over a decade ago.
This artwork was based on 'The Swimming Lesson' with Tilaweed and Ariel. While animating Ariel at Disney, I had the Tilaweed piece on show above my desk. Inspired by that, I was asked to do a new version of it for an internal employee magazine with Ariel and her daughter Melody. This was the result.
