Professional Background

Work Experience

Julie has worked in the publishing industry as a book seller (Grace Brothers, University Cooperative Bookshop), a publicist (Century Hutchinson – now Random House), and a marketing manager (Corporate Impacts Publications). She also coordinated a children's literary program for several years (Aloud in the Park & Aloud in the Powerhouse Museum), and was employed as publications manager at the Australian Society of Authors (ASA) where she commissioned, wrote and edited books and professional papers on authorship. Concurrently, Julie obtained several qualifications in hypnotherapy and ran a successful clinical hypnotherapy and PSH therapy practice in the Sydney CBD for over eleven years. She was a founding member and board member of the Australasian Subconscious-mind Therapists' Association (ASTA) where she now holds honorary membership, as well as a board member of the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists (ASCH). A few years ago Julie closed down her therapy practice when the calling to write full-time became too strong and she needed to focus her energy. Julie has had several magazine and journal articles published in Australia, and two comics fantasy series in the USA, which sold in excess of 270,000 copies. She has also had five ghost-written books published and has just completed an Australian local history coffee table book. Julie has also edited many non-fiction books, professional reports, papers and comics. Outside of BMP projects, Julie is now exploring personal growth issues through comics and graphic novels.
