I'm not sure if this is where random questions were to be sent, so I went ahead and sent it anyways.
I was just re-reading the stories fashioned for the original Wave Dancers that didn't ever get published, and understand why they can't be, though that doesn't drive away any disappointment, published in the future. I was also reading about the upcoming Elf~fin releases and realised that some of the story lines clashed (such as shoresprout being alive and Illora being with her parents as a child, etc.) and wondered what the motivation was behind changing things from the way they were originally planned.
I guess I was just seeing the upcoming Elf~fin as the original Wave Dancers published under a different title becuase of legal reasons, but I'm starting to realise (with a little bit of trouble letting them separate in my head) that they are two different worlds that were once tied together, but no more.
Hello dear Blackmermaid-Team,
many many years ago I bought your issues of the Elfquest WaveDancers and I was absolutely enthused about it. Unfortunately this story was never brought to an end (in comic form). But then I saw on your homepage that you're working on new stuff. Now my questions: when and where can I buy it? What's it going to cost? I would be very pleased if you answer my questions!
I am a big fan of ElfQuest and when The Wavedancers came out I was very excited to see another group of elves. It only makes sense that elves would populate the sea as well as the land. My only problem is you didn't publish the next few stories. You stopped at Barmek and Raenafal recognizing. I would really love to see the other stories published. I draw elves and recently I started on the merelves and I would love to know as much about them as I can. Especially how they look and how they are related to each other. I am making family trees for the wolfriders and all of the elves linked to them. Suntop recognizes a wavedancer and I would like to know how she is related to the mer-elves you created. Can you help me? I have made a family tree for the elves in the first story as complete as I could with what information I can gather.
Hello, I was browsing around and found your site and productions fabulous. I am wondering how or where I can get the actual comics-if they are still being sold. I would enjoy reading the actual books and your illustrations. If you guys have any helpful information, please let me know. Thanx. Sincerely, a mermaidaholic
Hi there! I`m a lifelong elfquest fan from Norway, who has every single magazine of the various elfquest-series, except of course, Wavedancers. The only one I`ve got is #4, which I bought when it came out for the first time. I absolutely loved it. Compared to some of the other titles which came out in the nineties (like New Blood or BoTC) Wavedancers were truly amazing, but for some reason I can`t remember, I didn`t buy anymore of the issues.. (Maybe it had something to do with the fact that I was about ten at the time and was depending heavily on my parents pocket in economical questions, and second, I lived in the northern part of Norway, and american comics weren`t easy to come by at the time.)
Anyway:
The lack of Wavedancers in my Elfquest-collection has been an itching in the back of my head since then, and I have looked for the remaining issues everywhere I`ve been, it also puzzled me a lot that when Warp started reissuing the various Elfquest-titles, Wavedancers were nowhe
re in sight. I just learned about the fact that you guys were the ones collaborating with WaRP on Wavedancers, and that certain issues (concerning copyrights maybe, i dont know) is the reason why Wavedancers haven't been published since.
Soooo....
My question is: Is there anywhere I can get the single issues? Can I order them from you guys? It`s really sad that such a great story should be unavialable, when theres so much crappy comics out there.. So if your answer is that i can't order it: Are you considering a reprint of the Wavedancers?
Thanks for a great story (though I've only read #4.. the rest of the story has been spinning around in my head for the past ten years or so!) I hope I get to read the rest sometime!
I was just browsing around the internet trying to look for the perfect mermaid figure. This is when I came across your page. I have fallen in love with Tilaweed. I was wondering if there was any way that I could purchase the old comics of WaveDancers. And can you tell me how I can buy the Elf~Fin comics? Thank you very much for the lovely art you have created. Email me ASAP!!
Awesome......
That's the first thing that comes to mind after seeing your site. I am an avid lover of mermaids and am blown away by your work. Your art and characters are beyond compare. I'm not a huge comic guy but am still interested in where I can purchase/order them. More so I'm greatly interested in your many prints as to if they can be purchased and also shipped to the US or Bahamas.
Thanks for your help, and once again congratulations on your phenomenal works!! A new and dedicated fan
Hello, when is Ethernal Spheres gonna be released?? I'm a huge fan of everything's that mermaids and can't wait to read that.
Also, are you planning to update the Black Mermaid web site? Not to complain but I'd like it to showcase a bit more of your always amazing artwork especially I'm looking foward for more pics of Rosette (from Dart) and Hyfus (from the WaveDancers/Elf-fins)...
Hello, today is my first time to your site. I have a long time fan of Elfquest. I had several books of elfquest as a young girl. I was totally in love with the series. I lost my books in a house fire and have been trying to replace them. Boy, was I in for a surprise. I have had some luck, but I didn't know that Elfquest went off in this direction. So to get to the point, I want to buy the whole kit and kaboodle of the WaveDancers series. Where can I find a dealer near me? Can you hook me up? Thanks for your help.
Hi, I stumbled upon your beautiful site while looking for mermaid images on the web. I must say that I am very impressed! I am particularly interested in the upcoming Mermist Seas series due to the fascinating image you have in the gallery depicting Jessur and Rynan with two (I'm assuming) human male lovers, cavorting in the waves. I was about ready to rush to my local comic shop and demand my copy!
Then I read that it's not out yet :) and I searched your site but it's still early in the morning here so maybe I missed where I could be added to an update list, if you have one? I live in the US and can only IMAGINE how much it'll set me back to purchase an Australian trade paperback, but the art is amazing and I must have it! Could you give me a rough estimate of the timeframe you're looking at for releasing this series? This year, 2005, whenever? And how can I be notified when I can purchase my copy?
Thanks in advance. Keep up the awesome work!
I love this site even though i just found out about it like 10 seconds ago! I love the drawings and i think that the pictures are awesome! Specially because ever since i was 5 i have loved mermaids!
Dear BMP,
Nearly 10 years ago, when I was in my teens, I met your crew at a comic convention in Darling Harbour. You signed all of my Wave Riders comics and I was floating for weeks. So very excited. Ever since I was a baby my family gave me mermaids and finally you had produced a comic that I claimed for my very own (my brother was into all the super-hero stuff). I also collected elf-quest, but mermaids filled a sort of aching in my chest. I was so sad when you stopped the series.
Three years ago my comics were lost in an ugly break-up. This broke my heart. I didn't think I would ever see the characters again, my favorite form of escapism - until this morning when I found your website and it was like being given back a fundamental part of my youth. I would spend days emersed in your stories and I don't remember ever having such an enriched imagination as I did back then. I have since been to university, finished a creative writing degree and a BA with honors in english literature and at any given opportunity tried to make my way back into the watery world. So in a whirl of self-directed study I started surfing the web, and here you are! Maybe I don't have the comics anymore but I'm so stoked that you are still producing such beautiful work. Please please let me know when the books come out!
ok why are so many of the men gay and how do they do it if they're merpeople?
i love wave dancers i have never found a place where i can buy them please help me e-mail me fast i so want them all are you selling any where? can i get any?
Why did WARP 'stop the presses' on Wavedancers? I loved it.
i love your drawings!!! keep on the good work!
I'm from Germany. It's very difficult to find here good fantasy comics and books. Then I found your little mini saga WaveDancers and I have been excited. On your homepage I read that you're working on more mermaid projects and now I wanna know from you what is published, what's the price and where can I get it! Please help me. If you're selling on your own, please mail me a short list which informs me of your products.
Thank vou very much!
As much I loved your art, I just help but ask. Why is Tilaweed so thin? It's sick to tell you the truth. Mermaids shouldn't be that thin, they should kind have a lot of muscle since they spend all their time under water. I hope you don't mind.
Big hello to the team especially you Jozef!!! Your artwork is truly genius....it's so beautiful that you make me cry from pure envy heh heh....Seriously, I was introduced to your art via Wavedancers and I haven't looked back since. I am eagerly anticipating the release of Eternal Spheres. ARRGGHHH when is it coming ouuuuuuttttttt??? I know, I know be patient...be patient...if you build it it will COME!!!!!
I LOVE YOUR ART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your #1 fan!!!!! (heh heh)
AMAZING! Simply, AMAZING!
I must say that form the first time that I opened the page to WaveDancers #1, I have been absolutely floored by your talent. You have been the only artist that one could even begin to compare to the talent of Wendy Pini's characters and stories.
I was wondering if there is any way to view any more of your ElfQuest WaveDancers work. Do you have any of it up for sale? I am greatly interested in seeing more of your work and purchasing a piece of it if you should have any up for sale.
Again. your work is truly amazing. Please keep up the awesome work.
A loyal fan
Scott Klug
Hello! I was very excited to find your website. I'm a fellow artist, but I work in pencil and charcoal. I love your art! Is there any way I can purchase a print of the picture below? If so, can you ship to the U.S.? I'm writing from San Francisco, California.
Many thanks.
Kurt
I came across your website while doing an art research on images of mermaids. The artworks by Jozef Szekeres are really amazing and breathtaking. My favourites are WaveDancers and MerDawn.
I really love your site and I want to know whether any of the images or comics are on sale in Singapore?
Cheers and keep up the great work. ;)
Love,
Magdelene Han
Hey this is a really good site i love the art work and i'm into doing the same stuff.
your friend Kelly J.B.
Love your work. I am almost 52 but there is still a child in me. Keep up the great work. You are in a zone that is out side any box. You have inspired me to write and draw superbly. Homer has nothing on you.
Love your work.

First -
I have to tell you that your artwork is amazing!! I love your mermaids and I am so looking forward to your Mermist series and Elf-fin. I hope they will be available to your fans in the USA.
I was wondering if you could tell me where I can obtain some Wave Dancer issues - I currently have 1, 3 & 5 -but I would like to have the whole series. Please let me know if anyone carries them in the USA - or maybe if you have some left that you would be willing to sell. I actually came across your website while doing a mermaid search - you see I collect mermaids, and yours are fantastic - I only wish I would have known of them sooner - because I would have bought them when they were available in the stores.
Well I have not read the ones I have yet, because I would like a complete set and read them in sequential order all at once. Please let me know where I can find them. I check your website quite frequently and hope to hear more about the Mermist seas and Elf-fin.
Respectfully
Christy
Are any of your other mermaids prints available for sale other than "serenai"? In particular, I am interested in Tilaweed, Mermen and Goddess Calls. Thank you for your assistance.

I love colorful art...........Do you plan to sell the original (not print) pieces? Are they collector's items? Are the prints available in art galleries too?
Thank you :0)!!!
I really loved the mermaid and three little pigs rock. But I can make them in to desktop picture because they are not big enough! I am wondering if you have any website that might have more of your stuff and bigger pictures?

i love all the mermaid characters. they all (most of them) have beautiful faces, and i can't wait to collect the mermist series. the only comic book i collect is scooby-doo, and maybe fathom, cuz aspen is a mermaid-type girl. i really don't see any other comic books i like. but if you guys are going to come out with a mermaid collection, i'll be sure to get every copy and keep them for years on end. i LOVE anything mermaid. and a mermaid comic book is just another great new edition to my mermaid collection.
Hi,I love your mermaids. They are very close to the mermaids that I believe (if mermaids where real) mermaids would look like. Your mermaids have affected my drawing style a lot and I am greatful for that. Thank you so much. I am Drawing You a pictue of My mermaids look like, both male and Female, and i hope that you like them... I should have them done soon, and I will scan them and send them to you. Any who, I hope to talk to you soon.
Thanx
Damon
Just wanted to rebuttal Ryan_browne's comments. More of the true Wave Dancers would be a blessing. I won't comment On Warp Graphics current sad state. I believe truly beautiful storytelling is a rare and wonderous thing thanks for giving us some beautiful stories.
Hey guys! Love the site! I'm a budding comic book artist too and I was recommended to come here by Colleen Doran! Hello everyone!--
So glad to have found your site. The galleries are beautiful. It's a relief to find info on Blood Chic and Dart, too. I remember wandering through a comic shop in...must have been '96, I guess--and seeing Dart #3, but somehow didn't pick it up. Now I can't find it anywhere! Are there reprints available? Looking forward to seeing Mermist Seas someday as well...
Thank you for all your hard work and the beautiful art you produce! Cheers to BMP.
schneptune
Hey guys i love ur work and its so wow !!!!! My best bud got me one of ur comic books and since then i have been hooked i wish there was a site were i can i find more stuff on guy mermaids !!!
Big fan Sauwan ~
I am dissapointed and disgusted that you would choose to create a new series using the wavedancer characters first seen in Elfquest. These characters were created for said company and comic and as such should only be used for it. BMP had their chance to be a part of the grand Elfquest mythology, but blew it. The wavedancer characters were very intriguing to EQ fans, but were not seen again after the initial mini-series. Too bad. BMP had their chance at greatness (because the series was excellent) but let it slip through their fingers. To reincorporate existing characters who were in the elfquest canon just to create sales or interest is both artistically and creatively devoid of inspiration. Shame on you.
Hi! I just wanted to let you know how much I love your work! I'm 16 years old, and ever since I was born, I dreamed of becoming a Disney animator. (I just loved The Little Mermaid, so it was really neat reading how you were a senior animator in Little Mermaid II!) Anyways, I was wondering if you planned on selling a print of the artwork with Ariel and Tilaweed on your website. Thank you!
I have been looking and studing mermaid artwork and yet your artwork amazes me. I am soo speechless about how beautiful the artwork is and how you guys put up this website to show it off I give it TWO THUMBS UP, rating it from one to ten, 11. Keep up the great art work.
I love your artwork...need more of it ! warpgraphics are dumb cocks to let you and your magical artwork go! their lost your gain !
love vasean davila
I am the BIGGEST FAN of Wave Dancers and I remember how much i fell in love with not only the art work but the story line. I remeber the day my dad came home from work with the first issue and how i couldn't put it down, it was my life. He bought me home every issue until number 4. We moved and i never found issue #5 or #6. I became so heart broken that I stopped reading comics because I only loved Wave Dancers and thought that if I'd ever read another comic book again that one day it to wouldn't exist. Now that I have found you'r website it has been almost 9 yrs since I've been looking for issue #5 and #6 all I'm asking is if there is any way possible for me to get my hands on those issues. I well be the happiess girl on these earth if you can help me out. I thank you everyday because not only did your art work inspire me to learn how to draw, but to also become a good writer. Please if anything just email me to at least show you have read my letter. Thank you again and! how to here from you soon.
With Hope And Love
Jennifer Marie Velez
Hi, it's me again.
I was just wondering... Have you ever thought of animation, you are all so good, your story lines are great, your art is great, everything about your works are great and I would love to see any one of your products become a movie, or animated series. Well that's just ,me.
Thanx
Damon
I really love all your art. I don't think I could ever draw as well as you do, but I wish I could!
I love the site!! Wave Dancers was my favorite part of the Elfquest, and when I heard from R. Pini that the rest of the series was not going to be completed, I was heartbroken. I am a freelance artist with an intense love of mermaids as well. In fact I have an 11 foot mermaid hand drawn on my bedroom wall...what can I say? I love it!!
If you have a way of contacting Jozef (Can't spell last name) I would much appreciate it...I'm dying to see more of his work!!
Sharon Bellinger
I really love your site and i wanted to know where i might be able to find out more info about The Wave Dancers Comics I have never heard about this series and i would really like to get this series here in the United states. Kenny Lattimore
your site is freakin' awesome!
I cannot believe I have come accross this site! Elfquest Wave Dancers blew my mind! I have been a devoted fan of elfquest since it's inseption, but when Wave Dancers came out I jumped for joy! Mermaids have always been favorites of mine and to combine Elfquest with the "mermaid" theme was too good to be true. The artwork is what did it for me the most, it was exceptional. It captured the essence of the Pini elves but still contained it's own character. I only wish that it would have gone on longer. I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and unfortunately, we didn't get very many issues. I actually don't know when it stopped production. I've tried to find further issues, but have been unsuccessful. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that your issues of Wave Dancers have brought me much pleasure.
Thank you very much!
Warmest regards,
Jan McSween
I love your art work, quite amazing to me since I too have been a D&D fan for many years... since 4th grade... with robbie stewart, (oh wow). Anyway wanted to write cause I loved these pieces so much... especially the ELVES since that is my nickname...
Hey BMP!
I just wanted to say that your art is incredible! Is your Wavedancers a comic series? Or is it just graphics for Warp. Are they available in the U.S.A.? I think that your characters are quite creative, where did you get your ideas for them? I really like the Swimming Lesson that Tilaweed gives Ariel. Just a suggestion, but it would really help if you could put the characters on a family tree display page sometime. The list gets kinda confusing when you are trying to see how each character relates to one another in the colony. Well, I hope that you keep producing more artwork because I can't wait to see it!
A fan,
Amie Schultz
Hi!!!! I'm a huge fan of yours and I just wanted to tell you what a great artist you are!!!! I LOVE mermaids sooooo much!!! Is there a web site of yours were just mermaid art can be viewed like clicking on thumbnails? I truely commend you on what you have done and are doing and wish you all the success in the world. It would really mean a lot to me to read an email of exceptance from you. Your biggest fan,
Lyric
Hello, my name is Olga and I am 16 years old. I stumbled unto your site looking up pictures of mermaids. I just want to tell you that you are a very talented artist Jozef! Your art is truly magnificent! I hope to see it on the big screen some day in some animated movie. If you have any movies/cartoon series out already, I would appreciate if you could e-mail them to me.
Thanks! ~_~
Sincerely yours,

I really love your site and i wanted to know where i might be able to find out more info about The Wave Dancers Comics I have never heard about this series and i would really like to get this series here in the United states.

As a dedicated merphile, I often come to your site to look at the beautiful graphics and read through what you have been doing. I am getting married in September this year, and as a mermaid fan, am having a dress done in a "mermaid silhouette" (yes there is actually a style called this!)
I am having the bodice embroidered with mermaids, and I'd like to use your logo (looking at tiny little mermaids all over the fabric) - if you'll allow it. There are poses in the opening animated sequence which would look so lovely on my dress.
I'd be more than happy to send you a photograph of the finished dress for you to put onto your site, if you like.
I was wondering if it were at all possible for you to send me an email or snail mail me a few pages of the graphics (if you'll allow it) so that I can get the embroiderer to work on it - she has asked me for clear black and white images for her to trace (she works by hand).
Any help would be very much appreciated
thanks and regards
Peta-anne Blackburn-Rogers.
Your work is simply breathtaking! I've always loved mermaid art (I've loved mermaids since I was a little little girl *heh*) and stumbled upon your site quite by accident but I am very glad I did. The work is beautiful. :) Thanks for making the world a little prettier.
XOXO,
Alithium
Jozef,
You are a very good artist. I myself draw mermaids and such. I am sixteen and I draw on everything that I get for homework. i love to do it. It makes my day fun. I think your site is awsome. I think that you should come out with a line of toys/collectable action figures. I think that that would be a great extention of your talents. Any way thank you for reading this.
this is a great web site for the wave dancers. thanks for having it.
Back in 94 when I was in High School , a fellow class mate handed me ElfQuest "Wave Dancers #1". I was taking a Graphic Desgn class and was looking for subject material. I was floored. These gorgous creatures astounded me. The guy who handed me the comic , and said I could have it. I love fantasy, mermaid style like stuff. I set out try to copy the style from the artist in my class's. I ended up getting a scholarship in the class. A couple years ago I was going through my papers of the work I did in that class and I remembered the comic. I looked all over for it and could not find it anywere. I was so upset ! What upset me even more was that I had all this artwork that I had done that looked just like the comic book- but not only did I not have the comic book, but I could not even remember the story line. Infact- I don't think I even read the story when I had the comic ! I only ever had the one.....but I guess I was much more interested in the pictures. So a couple months ago I visited my first comic book store- Legends. I asked them for help. I did not have much to go on. I said " I am looking for a comic that came out about 6 years ago. It had a lot of mermaids and elves. Pointed ears..." I am sure I was just confusing the employees. But I persisted and went back there again and again to look at their selection hoping that something would ring a bell with me. Then one day I was leaving and I saw a stand that said " ElfQuest " and I said " Thats it ! It was ElfQuest!" AAHHH, now they knew what I was talking about. But then I hit another wall, none of them knew anything about Mermaids. I dug through there EflQuest stuff and found a volumn on the Wave Dancers. I bought it on the spot. I went back to work and started to read. None of the artwork looked right. The story , although I could not remember the EXACT story, I knew enough to know that this was the wrong elves I was reading about. I was crushed. I perseverd. I went onto EBAY and searched for " Elfquest " . After scanning hundreds of auctions- I hit the jackpot ElfQuest - WAVE DANCERS ! Volumn #1 to my great delight ! After about three months of auctions I have now collected the entire series from 1-6 . I read them all and absolutley poured over the pages. What a disapoinment that there was only 6! I searched the web for answers as to why the series ended. I could find nothing. Also the mystery as to why the ElfQuest book I bought had different characters- baffled me. I combed the Elfquest site and found nothing on the Wave Dancers that I read about. Even the artwork was totally differeny. I loved the long lean look of the WaveDancers in the earlier books. Finding your website- was finding rest for my poor tormented soul! Now all the mysteries make sense. I know understand that your company was contracted to make the old Wave Dancers.....Well my couriosity satisfied I have now bookmarked your site, and visit often- to see the home of the wave dancers I have come to love! Thank you also for posting what was to happen in the future episodes. It again put my heart at easy-
forever grateful, Audrey.
Hi, I just wanted to say how great your site and artwork is. I love mermaids, anime and Barbie, and your art meets my favourite aspects of all. Thanks for sharing.

Maggie Atkinson
I love your site! I really enjoy that style of artwork and I love merpeople. I found your site from a round about way from Frodo's mermaid links. I also enjoy comic books. Thank You!

~Leslie
i lover your work. i'm art rght now, and i like lookin at your work cause i feel i like i'm so where eles. Do u do an other comic books?
Is there ANY chance whatsoever that the Wavedancer will continue or are going to be republished?
I'm looking ALL over the place for them, but my results are very poor. I only have one printed page from when the comic was online at elfquest.com I think it's a shame no one can get them anymore.
Well, If you know by any change how I could still get some, please tell, cause I think it's the most beautiful comic series ever made, and I don't want to miss it.
Thank you
Wendelien Meijer
What beautiful artwork! I Can't believe that you have put my two favorite Mermaids in one picture! ('The Swimming Lesson') I treasure my copies of 'Wavedancers'. I am glad to have found your homepage!
